Bringing the right people to the right venues with the right format and culture

The problem with most golf tournaments is that you end up meeting just the people in your foursome and, often, you already knew them. LinkUp Golf's mixer events are different by design

People

Whether it is a New Member Mixer that introduces 8 new members to 8 current members or an industry or role focused mixer, like the CFO LinkUp or the Real Estate Invitational, each mixer event starts with an intentionally curated player list. The criteria is based on common interests, not golf skill.

Venues

Relationships are not launched on forgettable golf courses. They are formed on stunning golf courses people will remember and associate the people they met there with the memory of the day. Venues where people are excited to play and talk about. These environments support the mood and mindset where relaxed conversation and genuine relationships form. The quality of the post-golf meal is equally as important as the golf course. LinkUp's mixer events are produced at just such venues. For example, in San Diego, our mixers are played at The Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Club, the only Arnold Palmer designed course in San Diego and famous for both its beauty and design. The post-golf meals are enjoyed at the fabulous Ember & Rye steak and seafood restaurant at group tables on the patio overlooking the 18th green and Batiquitos Lagoon.

Format and Culture

Each mixer begins by curating the pairings, foursomes, and foursome shuffle schedule prior to the event.

The day begins with a circle of introductions, but members also have the opportunity to research the players prior to the event.

After introductions, players tee off for the first leg of the round. Depending on the number of foursomes, there are "foursome shuffles" on either the turn or on the 8th and 13th greens. Everyone stays in their cart, but some carts move to the foursome ahead and some move to the foursome behind. By the end of the round, most people have played at least 6 holes with most people.

LinkUps are inclusive of all golf skill levels. The events are not competitive. There is no winner or loser. In fact, score keeping is optional and there are unlimited Mulligans. We have only four rules: 1) Don't be late, 2) Don't be slow, 3) Don't get angry, and 4) Get off your phone (be present). Excellent players may play their own ball for the full 18. The "Voluntary Scramble" rule enables any player to opt to drop the ball for their next shot next to the ball of any other player. This removes performance anxiety, promotes conversation, and accelerates the pace of play. If you shank one into the woods, all we ask is that you laugh it off and keep moving. Don't look for your ball. Just drop another ball next to any player you wish.

The focus of LInkUp events is better relationship starting points, not score cards.

Dinner

After a round of golf with new friends on a stunning golf course, dinner at the fabulous Ember & Rye. There's a group table for all players, but the meals are optional and separate checks. So you can come for a drink to say hello to people you didn't meet, carry on conversations with people you did, or stay for a full meal, with conversation often carrying on well after the last course.
